Wie spielt man Hats Off?
This game is especially suited for theatresports matches, since there is a winning and a losing team. The only requirement is a hat from the prop box.
One player from each team is on the stage and they play a scene. The player without a hat must now try to take the hat from the other player. This can happen through distraction or through clever playing.
Examples:
- Distraction: "Look over there, a flying fish!" The other player turns around, the hat is snatched.
- Clever: A player stares at an ear, makes a surprised face and says, for example: "What a beautiful earring you have. I really need to take a closer look." The hat wearer is not paying enough attention and the hat is whisked away.
- Crafty: If the hatless player finds a compelling reason for the hat wearer to hand him the hat, the hat wearer must give it up voluntarily, otherwise it would be "blocking the scene". Unless he in turn comes up with a very good excuse for why he does not have to hand it over.
Obvious misses, where a player ducks and the grab just barely misses the hat, are repeated in slow motion. Such failed attempts still count as "snatched". Holding on to the hat for a brief moment is allowed as long as the hat wearer has a solid reason, such as "Oh, the wind almost blew my hat away."
The player whose hat has been snatched is replaced by a teammate. After that, a completely new scene is played.
This continues until one team has "used up" all its players.
