Wie spielt man Target Tableau?

This game involves two or three players.

At the start of the game, an audience member is invited onto the stage to "sculpt" the two or three players. That means he gives them different body postures, head positions, gestures and so on. The players briefly freeze in their pose and try to memorise it as precisely as possible.

Afterwards they return to their relaxed standing position. A suggestion is gathered from the audience and they start to play. Their task is to develop the scene in such a way that it ends in the memorised body postures. In other words, at the end the players freeze in the pose that the audience member gave each of them. The fixed final poses must arise from the played scene as if by themselves.

Notes and Tips

  • Since you may need to support the other players, it is important to also look at their posture, facial expression, position on stage and so on, and at least roughly memorise them.
  • It makes it easier to reach the target tableau in a coherent way if the "sculpting" audience members are encouraged not to demand absurd body postures. *The two (three) final body poses do not have to be taken at the same moment, but can begin a few seconds apart. For example, player A first takes his target pose (he bends down, say, and freezes), B keeps acting and speaking for another moment and only then arrives at his target pose.
  • It is essential to trust that the target tableau will arise naturally over the course of the scene.
